Personal Stories of
Domestic Violence

Sometimes it takes personal stories of domestic violence to reveal how cruel a person can sometimes be toward another member of the same family. Women and children are the prime victims of domestic violence. These personal stories of domestic violence reveal the true outcomes of domestic violence and show you how to begin getting rid of an abusive relationship.

Julie's Case

I am Julie. I got married to Kevin at the age of eighteen. Initially, Kevin was very nice to me and we had a wonderful time. After two years of our marriage, I could not conceive. My friends advised me to consult a gynecologist. After thorough tests on me and on Kevin, the gynecologist found that I was suffering from certain gynecological problems that could prevent me from conceiving naturally. From the next day on, I found Kevin to be a completely changed person, particularly in his attitude toward me. He would not care for me and hardly talked to me.

After a few months, I found that he was seeing another woman. When I asked him about this, he got furious and slapped me on my face. He said that I had no business to interfere in his personal matters. Now, Kevin gets irritated with me frequently, and beats me on small pretexts. One night an argument flared up between us, and he poured hot milk on my head.

It was a terrible feeling for me and I ran out of my home, reported the whole matter to the police, and finally settled in a rehabilitation center.

Jane's Case

Hi, I am Jane. I am 16. My father and mother separated when I was nine. My mother remarried to John last year. I am staying with my mother at John's place. John behaves ruthlessly and beats me quite often. He puts me in a small room and locks the room from outside when he and my mother go out for a party in the evening. I get bored staying in one room for long hours.

They even do not keep enough food for me to eat. John beats me if I commit even a minor mistake. I have developed a sense of fear toward him. When he comes back to home, I am afraid to be near him. My mother is also supporting John and does not take much care of me.

One day I escaped from John's place and now I am living safely in my aunt's home.

These are just a couple of the horrific personal stories of domestic violence there are to tell. Unfortunately, there are countless others that remain untold. If you are living in an abusive relationship, you should seek a solution before it is too late, and you join the list of people with personal stories of domestic violence to tell.
